Join us November 2, 2013, for Mahomet Aquifer Matters, a day focused on education and action opportunities for people interested in protecting the Mahomet Aquifer from contamination. Presentations begin at 10 a.m. featuring speakers on legal and legislative issues, and including opportunities for individual involvement.
Presentations include updates on legal challenges to the proposed PCB landfill in Clinton, Il., and the application to name the Mahomet Aquifer a Sole Source Aquifer by the U.S. EPA. Speakers scheduled include Illinois State Senators Chapin Rose and Michael Frerichs updating progress in their working group, which is addressing issues with the landfill and the Illinois EPA, and representatives from a regional coalition formed to fight the permitting of a PCB landfill over the aquifer. Regional groups will be present to offer individual opportunities to get involved with current issues.
